Former England cricketer and Television personality Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff was in Borneo at the tail end of 2011 filming an episode of his Discovery Channel series Freddie Flintoff goes Wild. The show involves Freddie heading into wild and dangerous territory with a local guide and includes locations such as the African savannah, Canadian wastelands and of course Borneo jungle!
Scubazoo were appointed as local ‘fixers’ for the shoot and handled filming permit applications, planning and logistics for the production in the Kinabatangan area of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. Camping in the jungle with local guide Alim, Freddie roughed it out in order to get a close-up view of Borneo’s Pygmy Elephant. Along the way he visits a huge cave, infested with bats and cockroaches and even has an encounter with the original man of the forest, the Orangutan. Take a look at the video clips for a preview and watch out for the show on Discovery.
