Stock footage – Filming trip to Palau Jellyfish lake

scubazooBlog

Scubazoo cameraman Simon Enderby had the chance to snorkel and film in Palau’s world famous Jellyfish lake.

Golden jellyfish and moon jellyfish populate this lake which was formed approximately 12,000 years ago when seawater levels were high enough that marine water could enter the lake. Formed from limestone, and connected to the sea by a series of fissures and tunnels, the lake is sufficiently isolated that the species diversity in the lake is much lower than nearby lagoons. The low stinging power of the jellyfish found there mean that it is a popular spot for snorkelers and a great opportunity for a rare, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

HD footage was shot on Sony PMW-EX1R inside a Gates Housing
