Working in collaboration with Yayasan Sabah since 1984, the Royal Society’s South East Asia Rainforest Research Programme (SEARRP) has just celebrated its 25th anniversary and signed a further 5 year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for its research initiatives carried out at the Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC). This centre of excellence for tropical biodiversity research is situated within 43,000 hectares of class 1 forest reserve on Sabah’s East Coast. For the next 5 years scientists will take a detailed look into the future of tropical rainforests in a changing landscape and climate.

To mark the occasion, SEARRP commissioned Scubazoo to film and edit a five minute video showing a “Day in the life of the Danum Valley Research Centre”. Using film footage from Scubazoo’s senior cameramen Roger Munns and Chris Tan’s most recent trip to DVFC, as well as historical footage from Yayasan Sabah, research films and images from scientists Philippe Saner and AJ Hearn and still images from professional photographer Ch’ien Lee, the film has managed to capture the groundbreaking work carried out at the DVFC. The video was shown at the official MOU signing ceremony at Shangri-la Tanjung Aru Resort, witnessed by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Musa bin Haji Aman.
